Setting an assignment
From the Parent Area, choose to create a quiz and set it to be assigned rather than played immediately. You will be asked for:
- How many questions — pick from the presets
- Which topics — one or several
- Type in the answer — the child types rather than choosing from options, which
is harder and closer to some of the real assessment
- Include flagged and wrong — revisits questions they got wrong or flagged, instead
of drawing fresh ones
- Difficulty — available to you as the parent
Once assigned, it appears on your child's home screen with a counter showing how many pieces of work are outstanding.
A note on English comprehension
Comprehension works differently from other topics, because the questions belong to a reading passage and only make sense together. When you select comprehension, the other topics switch off, and the number of questions changes to multiples of seven — one whole passage at a time.
This is deliberate. Half a comprehension is not a shorter comprehension; it is an unfinished one.
Seeing what has been done
The assigned work screen shows everything you have set, filtered by all, to do, or done, with the real score against each completed piece.
How much to assign
Little and often beats long sessions. A short quiz most days will do more for a child than an hour at the weekend, and it keeps their streak alive, which most children care about more than the score.
